A teacher for twelve years, Leah holds a Master's of Education and a Bachelors of Science in Journalism. Additionally, she is certified in Secondary English/Language Arts and K-12 Reading. She has taught college preparatory English courses and general level classes, and currently teaches at Union Local High School in Belmont County, Ohio.
Her commitment to the classroom was recognized when she received the "Tri-Valley District Teacher of the Year Award" for 2002 and a Kiwanis "Service to Children Award" in 2001. Her experience in educational publications includes work for Teacher's Discovery and Scholastic Scope magazine. In September 2009, Leah received the "Outstanding Faculty Member of the Southeast Region" award from the Ohio School Boards Association-Southeast Region.
An NCTE member, Leah was a panel presenter at the 2005 National Convention. She is also a member of the Ohio Council of Teachers of English Language Arts (OCTELA) and the International Reading Association (IRA).
