My goal was to submit lessons which could be taught by school library media specialists or classroom teachers,or even better–by both in a collaborative setting!"
A public school educator since 1967, Janie has been both a classroom teacher and school librarian. Her primary areas of professional expertise include information literacy skills instruction, literature enrichment, technology integration and collaboration. Janie is actively involved in the Illinois School Library Media Association and the American Association of School Librarians.
Janie describes her favorite professional moments as the "a-ha!" moments she has with teachers when they are planning together or discovering new applications of technology to the curriculum-as well as the moments when she looks out at the rapt faces of her students when they are totally involved in a story she is sharing with them.
