Jackie spent three and a half years teaching sixth grade in the Milwaukee Public Schools. During that time, she helped create new, district-wide, standards-based assessments for oral language, research, and writing. She also coordinated vertical and horizontal English curriculum allignment between the nine English teachers in her school and those of a local high school.
Jackie earned a degree in Secondary English Education from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Her areas of expertise include grammar and writing instruction, as well as sentence imitation and combining, the focus of her Master's thesis. She is a member of Phi Delta Kappa and NCTE.
