Heather Casey is currently an assistant professor of literacy education at Rider University. Heather teaches courses in emergent literacy, literacy learning in the elementary grades, and middle school literacy development. Heather's research focuses on adolescent literacy and the use of collaborative learning structures and new literacies to motivate and support adolescent literacy development and engagement. Heather has published articles and book chapters in these areas.
Dr. Casey is a former middle school language arts teacher, a certified reading specialist, and earned her Ph.D. from Rutgers University in the area of literacy education.
