Before she retired, bringing books to life was a constant theme in Carolyn's classroom, where students imaginatively and thoughtfully approached literature. Books in her classroom had distinguished lives as the stories and authors mentored and guided student and teacher work in reading, writing, performing, and illustrating writers' work.
Carolyn Wilhelm is a National Board Certified Teacher and an NCTE member. She has been actively involved in Phi Delta Kappa, for which she has served as newsletter editor and secretary. She has a BS in Elementary Education, an MS in Special Studies of Gifted Children, and an MA in Curriculum and Instruction K-12. She has taught grades one, two, three, four, and five, as well as gifted education. She has been a free-lance curriculum writer since 1974.
