   Digitally Explaining the Immigrant Experience
   The United States has become the chosen home for many around the world. From the first explorers to the newest arrivals, each immigrant had his/her own reasons for traveling to America to face new challenges in this country. In this lesson after researching about particular immigrants, students will compare and contrast the immigrant experience. Together with a partner, students will create digital stories to share the experiences of two immigrants to encourage an understanding of the immigrant experience.

   Examining History with Maya Angelou's Poetry
   To understand the historical background that influenced Maya Angelou's poems, students research events to produce trading cards using the ReadWriteThink Trading Card App or Trading Card Student Interactive. Through the sharing of these trading cards, students understand the historical background as they analyze Angelou's poetry.

   The Flip Book is designed to allow users to type and illustrate tabbed flip books up to ten pages long. Students and teachers can use the flip book for taking notes while reading, making picture books, collecting facts, or creating question and answer booklets.

   Huge Mistakes that Led to Catastrophe: Learning about Human-made Disasters throughout History
   After researching various human-made disasters such as the BP oil spill, the sinking of the Titanic, and the Great Chicago Fire, students share their research in oral presentations. Then students pair up to compare and contrast their disasters using the Venn Diagram Student Interactive or the Venn diagram Mobile App.

    The Postcard Creator helps students learn to identify all the typical parts of a postcard, and then generate their own postcard messages by typing information into letter templates. After printing their texts, students can illustrate the front of their postcards in a variety of ways, including drawing, collage, and stickers.
