ReadWriteThink provided me with numerous, outstanding lessons when student teaching and as I began my teaching career in 2006. The website has remained an invaluable resource as I strive to bring new ideas and practices to the literacy block in my classroom.

Shannon began her journey into the field of education as a freshman at The College of New Jersey where she majored in both elementary education and psychology.  During her time at TCNJ, Shannon taught first grade in Trenton and Kindergarten in Hillsborough.  Additionally, she spent a semester interning as a school psychologist.  Upon graduating with a Bachelors of Science in 2006, Shannon secured a teaching position with Mansfield Township Elementary School.  She is currently attending Holy Family University and working towards obtaining her Masters to become a Reading Specialist.  Shannon has attended numerous literacy seminars and workshops from Columbia University’s Teacher’s College.  She is a member of the IRA and the West Jersey Reading Council and was part of a team that wrote the Language Arts Literacy curriculum for Mansfield Township.  Shannon’s passion for literacy is contagious and she strives to continually expand her knowledge while inspiring her colleagues.
