Michael Manderino is an assistant professor of Literacy Education at Northern Illinois University. He is a former high school social studies teacher of 14 years. Additionally, he acted as a district Literacy Coordinator and literacy coach for two years where he and his colleagues implemented a district-wide disciplinary literacy initiative. Michael's research centers around the intersection of disciplinary literacy and digital literacies at the secondary level and investigates how students read and write with multiple multimedia texts in discipline-specific contexts. He also researches the impact of high school disciplinary literacy coaching.
